The best phones with edge displays: What are your options? (2023)

The best phones with edge displays: What are your options? (1)

Luke Pollack / Android Authority

TheGalaxy Note Edge was the first phone with an edge display back in 2014. Its single-edge design never really took off, but Samsung refined the concept the following year, introducing a dual-edge design with the Galaxy S6 Edge. Since then, the curved screen has become a feature on flagships from several manufacturers. Let’s take a look at the best phones with edge displays.

  • Google Pixel 6 Pro
  • Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra
  • OnePlus 9 Pro
  • Vivo X70 Pro Plus

Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra

The best phones with edge displays: What are your options? (2)

Robert Triggs / Android Authority

The Galaxy S21 series includes three phones: the S21, S21 Plus, and S21 Ultra. All three are great options for anyone that wants a powerhouse, with all of them featuring excellent performance and useful extras. But if you’re looking for the option with an edge display, you’ll have to splurge on the most expensive of the lot, the Galaxy S21 Ultra.

Compared to its smaller siblings, the Galaxy S21 Ultra kicks things up a notch. It comes with the largest display of the lot, a QHD+ resolution, and of course, curved edges. The quad-camera setup on the back is also better, headlined by a 108MP shooter, and it also packs a bigger battery than its smaller siblings.

A new addition is S Pen support, available only with the Ultra iteration. If you’re looking for the best of the best, the Galaxy S21 Ultra is the way to go.

Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra specs

  • Display: 6.8-inch, Quad HD+
  • SoC: Exynos 2100
  • RAM: 12GB
  • Storage: 128/256GB
  • Cameras: 108, 10, 10, and 12MP

Google Pixel 6 Pro

The best phones with edge displays: What are your options? (3)

Robert Triggs / Android Authority

The Google Pixel lineup had a lot going for it with previous generations and was consistently among the best camera smartphones you could get. That remains true with its latest flagship, but Google has finally caught up to the competition in terms of other specs and features as well. This includes a phone with a curved edge display with the Google Pixel 6 Pro.

Google goes big with the Pixel 6 Pro, with a 6.7-inch display. Google also saw fit to up the resolution to QHD+ and boost the refresh rate from the currently-favored 120Hz rate. It’s an excellent display, one of the best from Google, and looks fantastic with its curved edges and bright colors.

The rest of the phone isn’t bad either. The Tensor chip is an able performer, there’s plenty of RAM and storage, and the camera is once again one of the best in the smartphone world. It’s still an expensive buy, but surprisingly cheaper than most of the options on this list.

Google Pixel 6 Pro specs

  • Display: 6.7-inch, Quad HD+
  • SoC: Tensor
  • RAM: 12GB
  • Storage: 128/256/512GB
  • Camera: 50, 48, and 12MP
  • Front camera: 11.1MP
  • Battery: 5,030mAh
  • Software: Android 12

Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra

The Mi 11 Ultra is Xiaomi’s latest flagship, one of its most expensive smartphones, and, unsurprisingly, one of the best phones you can get if you’re looking for one with a curved edge display. The 6.81-inch AMOLED screen is by default set to Full HD+ resolution and 60Hz refresh rate. You can opt to improve the resolution to WQHD+ and the refresh rate to 120Hz. The Mi 11 Ultra allows you to set the display to both the high resolution and high refresh rate settings simultaneously, and it looks incredible at this setting.

Of course, it doesn’t fall behind in other areas either. It comes with Harman Kardon-tuned stereo speakers, support for Dolby Vision, and reverse wireless charging. A 50MP primary shooter is flanked by 48MP ultrawide and 48MP periscope cameras. A 1.1-inch display next to the rear cameras makes shooting selfies with the better cameras a breeze and functions as an always-on display for notifications. It also comes with super-fast 67W charging that will let you fully charge the phone in just over half an hour.

  • Display: 6.81-inch, Full HD+
  • SoC: Snapdragon 888

OnePlus 9 Pro

The best phones with edge displays: What are your options? (5)

Eric Zeman / Android Authority

OnePlus’ smartphones have gone from flagship killers to true flagships, and the OnePlus 9 series is a testament to that evolution. We can’t complain about the high-end specs or features, but it does come with a price bump, making the OnePlus 9 Pro the most expensive phone from the company yet. It’s also one of the best options around if you’re looking for a curved display.

The Pro variant stands out by virtue of its IP68 rating across the board, 50W wireless charging, 3X telephoto camera, and beautiful QHD+ screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. Of course, we can’t get into the company’s latest devices without mentioning the Hasselblad cameras. They’re its biggest draw and add quite a bit to the camera bump. The 9 Pro comes with 50MP and 48MP main shooters and an 8MP telephoto lens. And what better way to look at those amazing photos than on the curved screen of the OnePlus 9 Pro?

Vivo X70 Pro Plus

The best phones with edge displays: What are your options? (6)

Hadlee Simons / Android Authority

Vivo has caught up to its high-end competition with the X70 Pro Plus and is a significant upgrade over its predecessor. It brings features like wireless charging and water resistance, and you get to enjoy the better QHD+ resolution with a 120Hz refresh rate on a beautiful, curved edge screen. It’s a sharp, vibrant display that provides an excellent viewing experience both indoors and out.

The big selling point for the X70 Pro Plus is its camera features, particularly the gimbal feature on the ultrawide camera that helps enable much smoother video recording. It also comes with a new stabilization feature called 360-degree Horizon Line Stabilization, which keeps the video level even while the phone rotates. It’s a big, expensive phone that has its flaws. But if a curved display phone is what you’re after, the Vivo X70 Pro Plus is one of the best you can get. Unfortunately, the phone is only available in India and China for now.

Oppo Find X3 Pro

The best phones with edge displays: What are your options? (7)

Dhruv Bhutani / Android Authority

One of the biggest reasons to get the Oppo Find X3 Pro is its display. The screen’s curved edges flow seamlessly into the also-curved frame and look fantastic. The display isn’t lacking on the specs side either, with a Quad HD+ resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and AMOLED for those gorgeous colors and deep blacks.

The Find X3 Pro’s other highlight is its excellent battery life, but it definitely ticks all the right boxes for a 2021 flagship. Beautiful high-resolution display, gorgeous design, solid cameras, speedy performance, and super-fast charging. It’s not perfect, and its high price tag could be difficult to swallow. But the Find X3 Pro is definitely among the best curved-edge phones you can get right now.

  • Display: 6.7-inch, Quad HD+
  • SoC: Snapdragon 888
  • RAM: 12GB

Oppo Reno 6 Pro

The Reno series has gone from purely high-end and unsurprisingly expensive to one that falls in the affordable flagship category. Oppo has also moved its focus from experimental designs, like the shark fin pop-up camera of the first Reno, to specs and features that likely matter to consumers more. Continuing down this new path is the Oppo Reno 6 Pro.

The Oppo Reno 6 Pro combines a refreshing, fashionable design with a power-packed Dimensity 1200 chipset, a consistently impressive 64MP primary camera, stellar battery life, and rapid 65W charging. It’s not the highest resolution display, but the curved 6.5-inch Full HD+ screen offers an excellent viewing experience and is one of the highlights of this phone. Like some phones on this list, the Oppo Reno 6 Pro isn’t the easiest to get your hands on, though.

Oppo Reno 6 Pro specs

  • Display: 6.5-inch, Full HD+
  • SoC: MediaTek Dimensity 1200
  • RAM: 8/12GB
  • Storage: 128/256GB
  • Cameras: 64, 8, 2, and 2MP
  • Front camera: 32MP
  • Battery: 4,500mAh
  • Software: Android 11

Honor 50

The best phones with edge displays: What are your options? (9)

Robert Triggs / Android Authority

Last year, Huawei sold off its Honor sub-brand to let the latter become an independent company. The move enables Honor to revisit old partnerships, such as Google and Qualcomm, and makes its latest, the Honor 50, the first phone from the brand in a while to have Google services installed. Services that you’ll be able to enjoy with a curved screen.

Everything about the phone is eye-catching, from the special edition Honor Code colorway that leaves no doubt about who made this phone, to the stand-out camera bump on the back. And of course, there’s the beautiful curved Full HD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It’s not a flagship like most of the other phones on this list, but the mid-tier Snapdragon 778G chipset is very capable. There should be plenty of performance on offer when paired with 6, 8, or 12GB of RAM. And you get back up and running quickly with its 66W fast charging.

Honor 50 specs

  • Display: 6.57-inch, Full HD+
  • SoC: Snapdragon 778G
  • RAM: 6/8/12GB
  • Storage: 128/256GB
  • Cameras: 108, 8, 2, and 2MP
  • Front camera: 32MP
  • Battery: 4,300mAh
  • Software: Android 11
